2017 Summer Bucket List

I know that it just officially became Spring, but I am so ready for summer! I have so many amazing things planned for this summer and I can’t wait to make Summer 2017 the best one yet! I’m not taking any classes this summer so I plan on spending a lot more time on my blog. I will still be working a full-time job, but I will make it work like always. I also plan on taking more time for filming and editing because that is truly my main passion.

Along with working, blogging, and filming, I also have a ton of other activities that I want to do. Since I couldn’t stop thinking about them I decided to create my 2017 Summer Bucket List! It is possible that this list will be added to as it gets closer to summer. I will also keep you updated whenever I complete something off of my list! Let me know if you have any other suggestions for fun summer activities!

2017 Summer Bucket List

  • See a movie at the drive in theater

I used to go to the drive in quite often and I love it so much. It’s an entirely different experience than going to the actual movie theater. Bring some lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks!

  • Have a picnic in the park

  • Go star-gazing

  • Get a tan tattoo

This has been on my summer bucket list for a long time and this will be the year I finally do it! I’m not exactly sure what I want yet, but it will happen. I don’t generally tan a lot in the sun (because I burn super easy), but I plan to spend a lot of time outside.

  • Take a road trip

No idea where I want to road trip to, but I try to do a little one at least once a summer. Going to see something new in nature is my favorite and its super inexpensive! I will probably drive somewhere with some friends and go hiking (and of course take lots of pictures).

  • Take a weekend camping trip

I LOVE camping and most summers I go multiple times. However, this year I want to go somewhere at least a few hours away and spend the whole weekend there. I’ve done this in the past and it’s always a great time!

  • Visit the zoo

There are three pretty nice zoos in the area where I live and I want to go to all 3 this summer. Two of them are free admission which makes it even better. I love going to the zoo because I am a HUGE animal lover and I can always get some really nice pictures there!

  • Go to Valleyfair

Valleyfair is similar to six flags, but is way closer to me. I used to go to Valleyfair at least once a summer, but I haven’t the past couple of years. It is one of my favorite places to go and I’m making sure I can get there this summer!

  • Create a summer playlist

I want to start creating playlists for different things in my life (different moods, different activities, different time of the day/year, etc.) and my summer 2017 playlist will be one of them! I’ll let you know whenever I make new playlists.

  • Feed the ducks

I didn’t really need to put this on my bucket list because I will definitely do this multiple times throughout the summer. It’s so fun watching the ducks and enjoying the outdoors. Plus the ducks love it!

Side note: I read the other day that feeding bread to ducks is actually very bad for them. Apparently they like bird seed? I will have to do a little more research on that so I don’t hurt any more duckies.

  • Catch a fish

I don’t enjoy fishing that much and normally when I go I end up just laying in the sun because I get too impatient. It has been awhile since I have a caught a fish so this summer I’d really like to catch a bunch. Also I want to learn how to cook fish better so this is the perfect way to do that too!

  • Go to the trampoline park

A city about an hour away from me just got a trampoline park so I obviously have to go. I might do this before summer, but either way it will happen!

  • Go to Action City

Action City is a fun place with go-carts, rock climbing, bumper cars, laser tag, mini golf, and more. It’s such a fun place and I haven’t been there in a long time.

  • Go rollerblading

Rollerblading is one of my favorite things to do, but I haven’t had a pair of roller blades in way too long. This summer I am definitely getting a pair and using them all the time!

  • Wake up for the sunrise

  • Go Hiking in the Blue Hills

I’ve never hiked the Blue Hills, but I have heard of all the trails and beautiful things to see. Some of the places are 5+ miles deep in the woods, but there are other things closer as well. This summer I would love to go explore (with a map of course) multiple times! I want to take a ton of pictures out there and just enjoy the nature with family and friends. Seriously so excited for this!

  • Start a small garden

Growing up my parents always had a huge garden during the summer and I loved having access to all the fresh veggies! I have a very small yard and very little experience so my garden won’t be anything special this summer. However, I want to start growing a few things so I can get better at it and one day have a huge garden. Let me know if you have any tips!

  • Make homemade bread

I have been wanting to do this literally forever (okay not literally, but it feels like it) and to hold myself to it, I had to put it on a list. Again this might happen before summer, but either way it will be accomplished before the end of summer 2017.

  • Do a 7 Day Detox

Detox are so good for you and your body and I’ve always wanted to do one. I hope to eventually do one every few months to flush out my body. Let me know if you have any recommendations as to what detox to do!

Seems like a fun summer you have planned! I’m traveling for work all summer so no bucket list for me

Traveling sounds wonderful too! Are you looking forward to the places you get to travel to?

So many ideas! Camping is definitely a favorite of mine and it’s almost the season. On my list next is Red River Gorge in Kentucky. I’m just about to post about all the parks I visited in Utah, now that was a great summer!

Oh how awesome! Enjoying the outdoors in any way is always so incredible!

I love bucket lists!! I love your list too! what a great set of adventures you can have! by the way, you can find a lot of drive ins in Northern Alabama that are still functional. Make it a camping and drive in weekend and kill a couple of birds with 1 stone. You can find a list at http://www.driveintheater.com/

Thank you so much! I’ll definitely have to take a look at that list! I have two drive in theaters near me, but it would be so awesome to go somewhere new!

My Southern Sweet Tooth

I’ve always wanted to get a tan tattoo! It’s great that you put this on your bucket list 🙂

It has always been a small dream of mine haha. This year I really want to make sure it happens!

New Labels Only

Love your summer bucket list and this have given me a couple of ideas this summer. I really need to make my garden a bit better. Currently it is quite bushy. I need to get some couple of flowers and also some low maintainance vegetable crops!

This will be the first year I have my own garden and I plan to keep it small, but I definitely want some low maintenance vegetables as well!

Dreaming of summer! Lots of fun ideas here. We’re doing some traveling (overseas with kids, should be interesting), and I already have a bunch of these other ideas on my list. Thanks for the summer preview!

Dreaming of Summer! Love that!
Have you gone overseas with your kids before? Sounds like an adventure for sure and I’m sure they will love it!

These are great ideas for the summer. I want to travel to probably to an all-inclusive or a cruise. And I am looking forward to no homework for the kids!

I bet they are looking forward to no homework too! haha
Traveling is always so much fun, hope your summer is great!
