April 2017 Monthly Recap && May 2017 Monthly Goals

April was a rough month for me, to say the least. So I am hoping that my May 2017 Monthly Goals will be helpful and reachable.

I struggle with anxiety and depression and this month it showed up a lot more than normal. It usually isn’t very severe and is quite manageable, but it still sucks and is no fun. On top of that I have been dealing with a nasty cold that just won’t go away. Needless to say my energy was low this month. However life still goes on and I had such a busy and CRAZY month.

I finished up my 3rd year of college this month (yay!). Work was extra busy because we had our Spring radio auction. I reached a pretty big milestone on Dreaming With Love! Overall my life has been a chaotic mess this month. I am choosing to forget about the disappointments and all of the unmet goals and try again this month.

I am sick of the excuses I continue to create for myself. Sick of putting things off because “the time isn’t right”. This month all of that changes. I’m ready to get my life together. There will be some huge changes on Dreaming With Love and in my life in general. Hopefully when I come back here next month to tell you about May, I’ll have some great news to share! NOW let’s get into my April 2017 recap and my May 2017 monthly goals!

April Recap 2017

I’m not going to lie cause that would defeat the purpose of my monthly recap and goals. I didn’t complete any of my goals this month. Like I said I had a very busy month and still had many accomplishments, but none of which were goals I set for myself.

My depression really took over this month so whenever I had free time from work and school, I didn’t do much. I am going to put all of my April goals onto my May 2017 monthly goals. Sometimes we have bad days, weeks, and months. We just have to remember that it is NOT a bad life and it will pass. Push through, take care of yourself, and try not to worry too much.

Here’s to a GREAT month of May!

 Dreaming With Love Recap

Any progress is progress and I am so proud of the progress I have made on Dreaming With Love! April was the 4th month of my blog and I FINALLY hit a total of 1,000 page views! I know this isn’t a huge accomplishment in 4 months, but I’m still really proud. My numbers grew in most areas this month, including my social media accounts, so that makes me VERY happy! Thank you all SOOOOOO much for supporting me in this crazy journey <3

May is going to be a VERY exciting month for Dreaming With Love! I am doing a HUGE rebranding on my website and all my social media platforms. Finally I feel like I figured out what I want, for now at least. I would love to hear any input you have on my current and new design (coming soon)! But give me a break because I don’t like the current design either, haha. By the time you’re reading this I (hopefully) have done a lot of changing already.

May 2017 Monthly Goals

A lot of these goals will be the same as April’s goals, but there are a few new ones as well. Also if you want help creating achievable goals, I wrote a post with some of my best tips!

1. Start Newsletter

It’s finally going to happen. I did my research and chose the platform I am going to use. I hope to get at least 5 people signed up during May so keep your eye out for a sign up form!

In the beginning I won’t send out very many, maybe 2 a month? But I know I want to include exclusive content, access to free resources, updates, and an overview of what is going on with Dreaming With Love.

2. Finish (at least) 1 Crochet Project

I haven’t decided what I want to crochet yet, but it will be something small because I’m not very good yet. I think I want to make something for mother’s day. Also if possible I would like to do a few more projects this month. Follow me on Instagram to see pictures of the finished projects!

3. Read (at least) 1 book

I want to try to get back in the habit of reading a little bit every day or every other day. This month I want to finish one book and to ease myself back into reading I decided to pick an easier and shorter book than normal. I am going to read Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. I’ve had this book for a long time, but have never read it. I’m very excited to get back into reading.

4. Daily Journal

Daily journaling is SO freeing and helpful for me. I haven’t done it in months and I don’t know why. I used to do it first thing in the morning for about 30 minutes while I drank my coffee. It’s something that helped me cope with the ideas and thoughts going on in my mind and I really miss it. If you struggle with any mental health problems I think it is especially helpful for that!

I plan on getting back into a morning routine this month so hopefully I am able to stick to it!

5. Stop Biting Nails

I haven’t done so in about a week which is a huge accomplishment for me! If you read my April Favorites then you know I have been using Nail Envy Nail Strengthener from OPI and it has been a game changer. This polish strengthens my nails while also being a reminder throughout the day to NOT bite my nails.

This has been testing my will power, but I really want to stick to it! I hate being so embarrassed of my gross nails. I will post a before and after picture eventually, but for now they are still too gross. Haha.

6. Scholarships

Finals consumed my life in April so I wasn’t able to start applying to scholarships yet, which sucks. This month I want to make a list of all the scholarships I want to apply to over the summer (I’ll probably add to it as time goes on). Then I also want to apply to at least 5 scholarships this month. Wish me luck! && I’d love it if you have any tips on finding and applying to scholarships!

7. Make a Gardening Plan

I feel like I am getting a late start on this, but I’ve never had any kind of garden before so I’m not really sure. I want to do some research and make a plan for what I want to plant, when to plant it, and how to take care of it. Nothing too fancy, but a few easy vegetables would be awesome for my first garden! Please let me know any tips you have!

8. 30 Day Fitness Challenge

I posted a 30 Day Bikini Body Fitness Challenge that I was supposed to do during April, but I didn’t at all. However, I started it yesterday and really hope I can stick to it!

9. Get my Life Together

This may sound like a very vague goal, but I have a plan! May is going to be a month of decluttering and organizing in my home! Along with that I have started putting together a budget binder, a life binder, and a new and improved blog binder!

Plus I am incorporating a morning, night, and cleaning routines! Routines really help me keep my life on track so I am SO excited to be bringing them back!

March 2017 Monthly Recap & April 2017 Monthly Goals

March flew by, but I am so glad it did! Not because it was a bad month, it was actually a fantastic month, but it was cold. Obviously it has been cold for the past 6 months, but in March we saw a glimpse of warmth which made the cold that much worse. Other than that I had a very busy and productive month! I am ready for April and so excited for the things I have planned! So now on to my March 2017 Monthly Recap and my April 2017 Monthly Goals!

March Recap 2017

Make sure to read my March 2017 Goals before reading the recap!

1. Get everything completely unpacked

For those of you who don’t know, I moved in the beginning of March. One of my goals this month was to get everything completely unpacked. I am almost finished and plan on finishing up this weekend! It feels so good to have almost everything unpacked and organized.

2. Start a Budget

I kind of completed this goal. I started using an app called spending tracker and I love it. It has been helping so much and I think it put me on the right path I needed. I plan to sit down and work out a budget very soon. Let me know if you have any tips!

3. Complete 30-Day Challenge and Start a new one

I finished this goal and couldn’t be more proud! I started a 30-Day Fitness Challenge for arms and abs in the beginning of March and recently finished successfully! Also I began the 30-Day Water Gallon Challenge and am still struggling to complete it. There will be a post with a review of the gallon challenge after the 30 days are up. Also I will be starting a new 30-Day Fitness Challenge on Tuesday, April 4th!

Overall Thoughts on March

March turned out to be a better month than I thought it would be. I was finally able to start getting back into a routine and I know it will be even better when I completely finish unpacking and organizing. I was also able to start cooking and baking more after two months without my own kitchen. Oh how I have missed it!

 Dreaming With Love March Recap

March was the 3rd month of Dreaming With Love and I am so proud of how far I have come already. There has been a lot of hard work, setbacks, and daily struggles. However, I have persisted and came out on top every time! My page views and social media numbers grew the most this month than the past two which made me beyond excited. I have been having a hard time not comparing myself to other bloggers. Reminding myself daily to only compete with myself and that any progress is still progress.

April 2017 Monthly Goals

1. Start Crocheting Again

I learned how to crochet last year and love doing it. I’m not very good at it yet (practice makes perfect), but I have created a few items. I haven’t crocheted at all yet this year and I have multiple projects in mind. Normally I will crochet while I watch TV, but lately I have been so busy between work, school, blogging, and unpacking. This month I want to make time for it again!

2. Read (at least 1 book)

I used to read every day and reading is one of my absolute favorite things to do. Since I started college I rarely read anything for enjoyment anymore. This month I really hope to be able to set aside time each day or every other day.

3. Daily Journal

Having a daily journal helped me so much when I was struggling mentally last year. I really want to get back into the habit of daily journaling so I made it a goal this month!

4. Stop Biting Nails

I am so sick of being embarrassed of my short and weak nails. Since I can remember I have had an absolutely terrible habit of biting my nails. I feel too self conscious to wear nail polish because it draws attention to my ugly nails. Enough is enough. I am quitting and April will be the first month!

5. Scholarships

The fall semester will be here before we know it (I know it’s still spring semester but trust me). I want to get a head start and start applying for scholarships now. For April I am hoping to apply to at least 5 scholarships. I also want to find a bunch with deadlines later in the summer and have a list made. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

6. 30 Day Fitness Challenge

If you don’t already know, I did a 30-Day Fitness Challenge for arms and abs in March! I want to try to do a new challenge every month. My April one will be starting on Tuesday, April 4th!

7. Make a Gardening Plan

I have decided that I want to do a little gardening this year. I am finally in a house of my own with a back yard rather than an apartment! Now I don’t want a huge garden, but I would like to try to grow a few low maintenance vegetables. I have zero experience except when my parents used to force me to pick weeds. So I want to do some research and make a plan for this summer. I would love to hear any tips and suggestions you have!

February Recap && March Goals {2017}

February Recap && March Goals {2017}

Thank goodness February is such a short month because I don’t know if I could handle much more of it. The weather has been bipolar, big and unexpected changes are happening quickly, and I’m struggling to get caught up. I’m taking everything one day at a time and I’m proud of how I’ve been handling everything. I am so excited for the month of March and all the things I have planned for Spring! I have some pretty great March 2017 Monthly Goals and I’m super excited to start working towards them!

February Recap 2017

Make sure to read my February Goals before reading my recap!

1. Drink 4 or Less Sodas

This was so easy this month. I rarely even craved a soda! I have been drinking so much more water, juice, and tea. A soda once in a while isn’t a big deal and its so much easier than quitting cold turkey!

2. Become More Aware

I’m not gonna lie, this goal has continued to be a fail for me. I always put it on the back burner and it never gets accomplished. However, I now have a list of movies, TV shows, books, blogs, and podcasts that I want to watch/read/listen to! Let me know any suggestions you have for entertainment material that will help teach me something new or challenge my current way of thinking!

3. Finish Blog Binder and 4. Start a Budget I can Stick to

Both of these have been postponed because February was a mess of a month for me. I’ve had a ton of things going on and a lot of changes happening. I am moving within the next week which threw off my budget completely. I also will have my own office at my new place so I am waiting to finish my blog binder once I also have my space organized! Exciting and Stressful!

5. Start a 30-Day Fitness Challenge

I didn’t technically accomplish this in February, but kind of. I planned out my 30 Day-Fitness Challenge and it began 2 days ago on March 1st! I’d love for you all to follow along and do the challenge with me! I will be posting a 30-Day Challenge Checkup half way through and a review at the end. I also hope to do a new fitness challenge for April!

Dreaming With Love Recap

This month went A LOT SMOOTHER than January! I continue to learn new things on a daily basis and there is still SO MUCH to know about blogging. I’ve decided that I need to focus on small things that will eventually help me achieve the larger goal. I just can’t do it all at once especially while working and going to school. I continue to plan ahead and then re-plan everything one or two more times. However, I’m very confident that I am headed in the right direction and I am very excited about the progress I have made so far!

March 2017 Monthly Goals

1. Follow through on my plan for Lent

Lent started on Wednesday, March 1st! I came up with some great ideas on what to give up for Lent, plus you can see what I decided to do this year!

2. Get EVERYTHING completely unpacked and put away

This will be the fourth time I’ve moved into a new place. I ALWAYS take forever to unpack everything. Unpacking the essentials happens right away, but I continue to set aside my decor (even though that’s my favorite part) for way too long! This time I want to get everything taken care of immediately so that I can get settled in and back in a good routine.

3. Start a Budget

I NEED to set aside some time to sit down and figure out a good budget that I can actually stick to. I’ve been doing a ton of research and still feel rather uneducated on the subject. Let me know your tips for creating and sticking to a budget!

4. Complete my 30-Day Challenge and Start a New one

As I mentioned before, I started my 30-Day Fitness Challenge on March 1st! I also want to start doing at least one every month. The challenges won’t always be fitness related. Let me know some of your favorite 30-Day Challenges or if you have tried any before and your thoughts!

January Recap && February Goals {2017}

January Recap && February Goals {2017}

I cannot believe that January is already over and we are heading into February 2017! So far 2017 has been treating me pretty well. I have so many plans for the rest of the year and am very excited for things to start happening! My February 2017 monthly goals will help me move closer to my overall goals!

January 2017 Recap

Before reading my recap, make sure to check out what my January goals were!

1. Drink 5 or less sodas

Even though I kind of failed on this goal, it was much easier than I thought. I ended up having a total of 6 sodas so I am only allowing myself 4 for the month of February. I found myself drinking a lot more water and tea and rarely having cravings for sodas!

2. Become More Aware

I wanted to introduce myself to something new each week, but that didn’t happen. However I discovered two podcasts that I have been obsessed with and I highly recommend!

The first is Code Switch by NPR. It is a podcast about race and identity. It is extremely informative and I have already learned so much from it!

The second is Stuff Mom Never Told You. This podcast is by and for women! It is also super informative and I find myself relating to things I have never really thought about before.

These are both very entertaining as well which makes them more enjoyable to listen to!

3. At least 20 days of no biting my nails

EPIC FAIL! I didn’t have much hope for me on this one because I have tried countless times to stop biting my nails. So I thought gradually stopping would be best. However, I constantly forgot to keep track and ended up giving up. Next month I’m going to try to completely stop. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

4. Finish blog binder

It’s almost done! I just have a few finishing touches I need to make. I will finish it in February and plan on making a post on it as well!

5. Schedule February posts

Complete! The hard part now is to follow my schedule.

Dreaming With Love Recap

Starting a blog is so much more work than I ever imagined! There is constantly something else to learn. It takes up so much more time than I thought as well. I decided to break down certain areas of focus and to have a main one every week. I am constantly reminding myself that there is no way I can know it all right away. It is going to be a long long process of learning and improving everyday.

February 2017 Monthly Goals

1. Drink 4 or less sodas

I don’t think this is going to be a very hard goal for me. I’ll probably have about 1 soda a week. For anyone wanting to stop drinking soda, I recommend limiting yourself to less and less each month.

2. Become More Aware

Rather than introducing myself to something new every week, I am only going to do 2 a month. Every week was just too much and doesn’t allow me to really learn all I can from each new thing.

3. Finish Blog Binder (and make post)

I am almost done so this should be easily accomplished during this month! I am so happy with the results so far and I can’t wait to show you all.

4. Start a budget I can stick to

This will be hard for me. I am constantly creating new budgets that I stick to for a little while and then quit. I need a budget that I can actually stick with so that it can work for me. Let me know any recommendations you all have.

5. Start a 30-day Fitness Challenge

I really want to start doing 30 day challenges in fitness, mental health, and anything else they have them for. Towards the end of February I plan on starting a 30-day fitness challenge of some kind. Also I will make a post about it so you can follow along if you’d like. Again, let me know your recommendations!

Monthly Goals {January 2017}

My January Monthly Goals 2017! Writing down monthly goals and referring to them often helps keep you focused and motivated. I also highly recommend setting weekly and even daily goals that all help you move closer to your bigger goals!

January Monthly Goals 2017

  1. Drink 5 or less sodas

    For my New Year Resolutions I put that I wanted to drink 2 or less sodas a month. I decided to slowly work down to 2 sodas a month. For the month of January I want to drink 5 or less sodas.

  2. Become More Aware

    This month I want to expose myself to 5 new types (1 per week) of entertainment (movie, podcast, blog, etc.) that will teach me something new that I normally wouldn’t to seek out to learn on my own. I will post next month about each thing I found each week!

  3. At least 20 days of no biting my nails

    One of my 2017 New Year Resolutions is to stop biting my nails. I’m hoping I can just stop and not do it ever again, but this month I want to not bite my nails for at least 20 days.

  4. Finish putting together blogging binder

    I began building myself a blogging binder to keep everything organized. It is still a huge mess and I want to really focus on getting it perfect this month. Let me know if you guys would like to see how it turns out and how I chose to organize everything!

  5. Schedule February Posts

    I try to schedule out an entire month of posts at a time. I hate doing things last-minute, but often can procrastinate a lot. Having my posts planned out will help keep myself on track.
